Tommie Cares
Tommie Cares
The Tommie Cares Foundation is committed to using adventure-based activities to create a world of inclusion for children with disabilities. This foundation focuses on planning activities that children with disabilities do not typically have access to due to the need for additional support or adaptive equipment. By providing these children with unique, new opportunities, we can help them build self-esteem and confidence while giving our kind volunteers a better understanding of their abilities. The foundation's goal is to prove that children with disabilities are no different than anyone else - they just need a different type of support. Some of our adventures have included outrigger canoeing, snow tubing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and more.

The Open Door
The New York metropolitan area has one of the highest immigrant populations in the country. Immigrants contribute to the area's growth, diversity, and economic prosperity. However, low-income immigrant families often face difficulty in every area of life, including employment, medical care, housing, and education. Many individuals feel isolated from their support networks, and children of immigrants experience disruption in their education as parents struggle to meet their basic needs. The Open Door NJNY addresses these problems by equipping individuals with skills they need to successfully integrate into our society. Classes meet weekly to engage the mind, develop relationships, and build confidence. As a result, individuals find hope, families are strengthened, and communities are transformed.
